Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect what it takes to sell you a course, prove you completed it, and keep the records a licensing board can ask us for — and we do not sell any of it.
1. What we collect
You give us
- Account details — name, email address, password (stored hashed), phone number where you provide one.
- License details — license number, category, issuing state and expiry, so courses can be matched to what you actually need and certificates issued in the right name.
- Purchase details — what you bought, when, and for how much. Card numbers go directly to our payment processor; we receive only the result of the payment and the last four digits.
- Support messages — what you send us, so we can answer it.
The platform records
- Course activity — lessons watched and how much of each, seat time, presence confirmations, test attempts and scores, completions and certificates issued.
- Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps of sign-in and playback events. This is both ordinary server logging and part of the completion record a board may rely on.
2. How we use it
- To run your account and give you access to what you bought.
- To record seat time and issue certificates that stand up to audit.
- To take payment and provide receipts.
- To send transactional email — receipts, enrollment confirmations, certificate notices, password resets, and reminders about a course or license approaching its deadline.
- To answer support requests.
- To keep the platform secure and detect fraud, including the misuse of accounts described in our Terms of Service.
- To understand which courses are used and where learners get stuck, in aggregate.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Compliance records
Continuing education is a regulated activity. As an approved provider we must be able to show a state board who completed which course, when, and how much time they spent on it — so your completion record is not something you can ask us to delete while it is still within its retention period, and we may disclose it to the licensing board or auditor entitled to see it. This is the one category of data on this page where your deletion request is limited by law rather than by our preference.
4. If your employer bought your seat
When you join a company account or take a course on a company-purchased seat, that company's administrators can see your name, work email, assigned courses, progress, completions and the certificates earned on those seats. They cannot see courses you bought yourself, your password, or the personal details in your profile beyond name and email. The company is responsible for how it uses what it sees.
5. Who we share it with
- Payment processing — Stripe, to take payment and handle refunds.
- Bot protection — hCaptcha, on sign-up, to keep automated account creation out.
- Infrastructure — our cloud hosting, database, video hosting and email delivery providers, who process data on our instructions only.
- Regulators — licensing boards and auditors, as described above.
- Your employer — where it bought your seat, as described above.
- Legal — where we are required to by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim. If we are ever acquired, records move with the business under the same commitments.
6. Cookies
We use the cookies it takes to keep you signed in and to keep the checkout working, and no advertising cookies at all. The full list is in our Cookie Policy.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and license details — while your account is open, and then for as long as attached completion records must be retained.
- Completion and certificate records — for at least the period your state board requires providers to retain them, and long enough afterwards for you to prove a past renewal.
- Order records — as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Technical logs — for a short operational period, except where they form part of a completion record.
8. Your rights
You can see and correct most of your details in your account at any time. On request, we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, provide a copy, or delete it — subject to the compliance records described in section 3, which we must keep for their retention period.
California residents have the right to know what we collect and why, to request deletion, to request a copy, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no opt-out to offer. To exercise any of this, email info@a1k1.com from the address on your account; we will verify the request before acting on it and respond within the time the law allows.
9. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored hashed, and access to production data is limited to staff who need it. An account can only be signed in on one device at a time, which limits the damage a shared or leaked password can do. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
10. Children
The platform is for working professionals and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children; if we learn we have, we delete it.
11. Changes
We will update this policy as the platform changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and we will give notice by email or in the app before a material change takes effect.
